Orlando
We just came back from spending a few days in sunny Orlando, Florida with some of Kevin's family. My first visit to "Camp Mike" just wasn’t long enough. Mike is Kevin's uncle, and we spent Thursday though Sunday hanging out with him and his family, which ended up quite the gaggle of people, at their beautiful home. Aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins and friends filled their house to the brim. Good thing there was a pool we could spill over into:
And it’s a good thing I'm not afraid of lizards, because there were PLENTY of them everywhere you looked:
While we were there, Carl and Cheryl (Kevin's parents) sat through a brutal time share pitch on Friday morning. Did they buy a time share? No, but they did snag two free tickets to Disney World. They knew that I had never been and they were sweet enough to endure a couple of hours in what they called the "torture chamber" to get them as a bonus gift. So, of course, we headed to the Magic Kingdom for about a half a day to experience Disney. It helped that Uncle Mike lives within a stone's throw from all the theme parks. Here's a [bad] picture of us in front of Cinderella's Castle:
This my sound silly but my favorite ride was "It’s a Small World." We had to endure that song about a thousand times as we were going through the ride, but I loved the little dolls from around the world. It reminded me of seeing similar dolls and elves at Coleman's Nursery in Portsmouth every winter when I was growing up. Here's a funky photo at the end of the ride, saying good-bye in many languages. The whole experience was very retro:
Here's a few other snaps of Orlando. This is my first jet ski ride...
...and a bronze Dumbo. This is my sister Jennifer's favorite Disney character, and it just happens to be the official animal of the GOP:
Dosvidania!
